What We Did for the Godot Game Jam
When the game jam started, my friend and I began brainstorming.
My friend handled music and some assets. The jam theme was brewing, so our first idea was a game where you throw potions at enemies, defeat bosses, and collect materials to brew stronger potions.
I only had 3 days available: Saturday, Sunday, and the next Saturday.
Day 1
I created the core platformer.
Day 2
I added:
- Start page
- Brewing page
- Potions
- Enemies (slimes)
In the brewing shop, I added:
- Damage potion
- Speed potion
- Health boost potion
In the end, only two potions were fully used, and one stayed incomplete.
Day 3 (Next Saturday)
I had to finish and submit that night because I could not be online before the submission deadline.
So I changed the story:
- The player rushes to save a village
- 3 worlds collide
- A mysterious entity called The Void uses a glitch power to destroy worlds
Was it rushed? Yes.
Did we finish? Also yes.
For the level select, I used dramatic text like:
- "One level"
- "One hope"
- "One chance"
